TREK 5A

TREE LODGE, LAKE NAKURU & MASAAI MARA

Day 1:

Drive through lush coffee and tea plantations towards the Mt Kenya region. Lunch will be at a base hotel from where you will be transferred to your tree lodge. Enjoy the unique experience of all night and unlimited game viewing. Dinner and overnight at a tree lodge surrounded by forest and overlooking an illuminated waterhole and salt lick.

Day 2:

After breakfast, transfer to base hotel onward journey to Nakuru. Arrive in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. The park provides a sanctuary for the rhino. Lake Nakuru has always been considered a flamingo lake par excellence. The contrast and apparent dislocation between the shallow soda lake with its primeval birds and the animated woods all around it give Lake Nakuru National Park a very distinctive appeal. Dinner and overnight at a lodge over looking the lake.

Day 3:

After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara - the land of vast migrating herds. Arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to get a closer look at the Mara. Return to an archetypal Mara Lodge for sundowners, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4:

Awaken to the sounds of the big game country and venture out to absorb the enormity of the Mara. In this country of breathtaking vistas, view its vast assemblages of plains game together with their associated predators: Buffalo, Black Rhino, Hippopotamus, Leopard, Cheetah, Common Zebra, Coke's Hartebeest, White bearded Gnu, Oribi, Warthog, and Thompson's and Grant's Gazelles. An early evening game drive to catch up on all that was missed. All meals and overnight stay at the lodge/tented camp.

Day 5:

After breakfast, return to Nairobi.

TREK 5B

SAMBURU-SWEETWATERS-NAKURU

Day 1:

Head north to the dramatic semi-arid scrubland of the Northern Frontier. After lunch, an afternoon game drive to sight resident wildlife species like the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the Blue-necked Somali Ostrich that are rare elsewhere in the country. Dinner and the night will be spent along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River at one of the luxurious Samburu Lodges.

Day 2:

Further exploration of this fascinating reserve awaits you. Early morning and afternoon game drives give a chance to travel over some of the world's most spectacular and exciting terrain. Overnight and meals at the lodge.

Day 3:

After breakfast, depart for Sweetwaters Tented Camp - a luxury tented camp set in a 22,000 acre Rhino Sanctuary on Ol Pejeta Ranch.. It enjoys magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mt Kenya and has an abundance of wildlife. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Sweetwaters also houses the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary of its kind in Kenya. This Sanctuary comprised of riverine forest and savannah grasslands and is the home to 26 orphaned, mistreated chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day4:

Head for Nakuru after breakfast to arrive in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. The park provides a sanctuary for the rhino.
